Tinotenda Pudu, the eight-year-old boy who survived five days in the lion-infested Matusadonha game park, will be temporarily relocated with his mother to a safer environment. This decision follows a mental health assessment by a team that visited the boy in the Zambezi Valley.
According to Mashonaland West MP, Hon. Mutsa Murombedzi, the assessment revealed that Tinotenda’s harrowing experience has deeply affected not only him but also his family.
To ensure a smooth recovery, the mental health team will provide additional support for at least a week after they return to their community.
When schools reopen, the mental health assessors will work with school authorities to prevent any discussions or interviews that might retraumatize Tinotenda.
The team strongly advises against conducting any interviews at this stage, as it may trigger emotional distress for the boy.
