THE ruling Zanu-PF has assured the nation that the party was working with the Government to revive the economy and ensure that people’s lives are improved.

Addressing party leaders during an inter-district meeting in Gwanda on Friday, Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Lewis Matutu urged members of the party to be patient and desist from being carried away by opposition parties that were making false promises.

He said prevailing problems were temporary and people had to focus on President Mnangagwa’s vision of making the country an upper middle-income economy by 2030.

“We were instructed by the Politburo and the President to come and talk to you in Matabeleland South Province about what our leaders are doing in order to address the economic challenges you are facing.

We started on Wednesday in Matobo and from here we will move to Beitbridge.

“We will be moving across all districts in the province as the President knows that people have to be well informed of issues of governance.

“The President is implementing a number of strategies in order to address economic challenges. As of now he is looking into issues of employment creation by reviving industries. We are all aware that he has been travelling to different countries in order to secure investment deals.

“He also announced that Silo Zimbabwe will be capacitated to sell six basic commodities to citizens at an affordable price. The Government also recently acquired a fleet of Zupco buses that are transporting people at an affordable cost and more are coming,” he said.

Cde Matutu said other efforts which would be made by the Government will be ensuring that foreigners who were operating shops without required documents were stopped as those businesses were supposed to benefit Zimbabweans.

He said attempts were being made by the opposition to divide the Zanu-PF party through social media.

He urged party members to fully support their leadership, remain vigilant and ignore social media propaganda which was targeting the Presidium, Defence Forces and Government.

Cde Matutu said the opposition parties were focused mainly on fuelling violence in the country as seen during the recent protests where there was looting of shops and destruction of infrastructure.

He urged members of Youth League and Women’s League to work on recruiting more people into the party.

“The revolutionary party, Zanu-PF continues to seek broad-based development and economic emancipation of the people. The advent of the new political dispensation has seen the party embracing the concept of servant leadership where the leadership is elected to serve the people as enshrined by the tenets of good governance and constitutionalism,” said Cde Matutu.

Speaking at the same meeting, Politburo member Cde Abednico Ncube who is also Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs urged party leaders to disseminate the message delivered to them to all party members in the province. He urged party members to remain united in order to ensure the party remained strong.
