Gweru water situation improves

Raw water levels at Gweru’s major water sources have significantly improved over the past month following the heavy rains that were witnessed in the city and surrounding areas.

According to a recent report by the local authority’s department of engineering services, Gwenoro Dam, Gweru’s main water source is now 45 percent full.

At around the same time last month, the dam was at zero percent capacity having recorded insignificant inflows since the start of the rain season.

Amapongokwe Dam, from which the local authority is drawing 90 percent of its water, recorded an eight percent inflow and is now at 50 percent capacity.
