HI again! It’s great to write another article for you. It has been a really good ride and I am also learning through teaching you.

Last week we got into the treatments that are available to women that have endo, this week I will teach you some remedies that may alleviate symptoms. This will be particularly useful to people who do not like conservative methods and are into natural methods.

Endo causes inflammation. If that inflammation is reduced then a woman may feel relief, turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and is an amazing spice that can help with endo pain. Bring two cups of water to a boil, add a teaspoon of ginger then a teaspoon of turmeric. Add a tablespoon of honey and lemon juice, drink this once a day until you feel relief. You can also buy turmeric capsules (300mg) three times daily. This drink may not taste the best but it may really help. Ginger is also an anti-inflammatory. Boil one tablespoon of grated ginger root in two cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain it then add honey.

You can even chew fresh ginger pieces several times a day.

Flaxseed is also beneficial in treating endometriosis. It contains Omega-3 fatty acids which helps reduce the growth of endometriosis. Soak three to four flaxseeds in one cup overnight, strain and drink the next morning. This can be done until you see a change in your symptoms. It is also useful to add flaxseeds to yoghurt, smoothies, soups or even salads.

Castor oil packs are also an old age remedy used to relieve pelvic pain. Castor oil helps to rid the body of toxins. Mix eight drops of lavender oil and a four of castor oil. Soak a wash cloth in this mixture, fold it and heat it in a microwave until it is warm. Put the warm cloth on your abdomen or where you have the pain. Put a piece of plastic on top of the cloth and place a hot water bottle on top of that. (The water bottle is actually my best friend and always helps with pain). Use the castor oil packs for half an hour to an hour. Please note, do not use this when you are on your period, only before.

Sitz baths are another natural remedy for endo. Fill a bathtub, one with warm water and one with cold water. Add 10 drops of rosemary essential oil to each bath. Sit in the tub of hot water waist-deep for about 3 minutes. Then sit in the tub of cold water for a minute. Repeat this about five times and try do this three to four times a week. I know it sounds like a lot of work but it does offer some relief. Also avoid doing this during menstruation.

Pelvic massages can also help with endo pain. This is an exercise when the pelvic area /lower abdomen is massaged with essential oils like lavender and sandalwood. The first thing you do is lie on a bed and stretch out your body. Ensure you are relaxed. Rub the essential oil on your stomach. Massage in a rotating pattern for about 10 minutes. Do this once a day. Once again do this just before your period, not when you are on. Acupuncture can also help to relieve endo pains. I have used acupuncture for years and it definitely helps my symptoms to ease up. Tiny needles are inserted under your skin in on a specific pressure point in order to release pressure and promote healing.

Dandelion is another remedy for endo. It strengthens the liver, kidneys and helps to regulate hormone levels. Put one teaspoon of dried dandelion in a cup. Pour hot water in that cup and let it steep for 10 minutes. Add honey for taste. You may drink this two to three times daily until you feel better.

I mentioned that endo makes a woman bleed heavily and abnormally so she is prone to having anaemia (lack of iron), so it is important to replace that iron. Asparagus is rich in iron and can help with endo issues. Mix one teaspoon of wild asparagus powder in a cup of warm milk. Try this twice a day until there is an improvement.

In conclusion, all the above can really help. Not only can they help to reduce endo pain they can also help with reducing some bad premenstrual syndrome (pms) or painful periods. If you experience pelvic pain do try them out or share with someone who you know struggles with bad pelvic pain. It will show them you are concerned and want to help. I hope this information was useful to you all, until next time.
