HWANGE Football Club are officially the Zifa Southern Region Division One champions after they defeated Indlovu Iyanyathela 1-0 at the Colliery Stadium to earn promotion to the Premier Soccer League.

On a day when their nearest title rivals ZPC Hwange got three free points courtesy of the now defunct Indonsakusa, Chipangano did what they had to do, that is to avoid defeat against the soldiers from Bulawayo.

Courage Sibanda scored a penalty in the 82nd minute to spark celebrations as that ensured that Hwange, relegated from the PSL at the end of 2019 will be playing with the best teams in the land come next season.

The win saw Hwange move to an unassailable 85 points. ZPC Hwange are on 80 points and even if they win their last match against Zimbabwe Saints at home and their neighbours get beaten by Courage Sibanda , there will be no change at the top of the table.

At the end of the match, the Andrew Tapela-led Zifa Southern Region presented Hwange with their winner’s shield. Chipangano join Simba Bhora, Sheasham and Green Fuel as the new teams in the PSL next season.

FC Talen Vision, occupants of third spot lost 1-0 against Binga Pirates while fourth-placed Arenel Movers drew 0-0 with Ratanang.
