I haven’t joined Dynamos, insists Makanda Tinashe Makanda signs what appears to be a Dynamos contract

THE story of out of contract striker Tinashe Makanda signing for Dynamos has taken a turn with the player, together with his agent claiming that nothing was signed with DeMbare.

In fact, according to his agent, Trust Nyambiya, Makanda has a deal lined up in Zambia and if that does not happen, he could head back to Highlanders if Bosso still want him.

A photo of Makanda in a white t-shirt with a Dynamos logo, in the company of his agent, Trust Nyambiya and a representative of the DeMbare sponsors Gold Leaf Tobacco was circulating at what appeared like a signing ceremony. Makanda’s agreement with Highlanders expired at the end of July.

Dynamos coach, Tonderai Ndiraya, however, stated that he was informed that Makanda signed a pre-contract with the Glamour Boys, something also confirmed by the club’s vice-chairman, Moses Shumba.

Without elaborating, Makanda said he did not sign for Dynamos. Nyambiya insists no deal was reached with Dynamos and in fact, no football business was discussed on that particular day. Makanda is said to have attended trials at Nkana from last Monday till Thursday before he returned to Bulawayo on Friday where he was spotted at the Bosso offices.

“Dynamos lied that we signed with them, the player is heading to Nkana but if the deal collapses, we will listen to local offers including Highlanders that is only if they are interested,’’ Nyambiya said.

He sought to explain that Gold Leaf Tobacco are assisting out of contract players like Makanda to earn a living. Makanda is said to have picked up an injury playing social soccer.

“What he signed is an agreement of a six weeks contract since the player had an injury, he is now fit, they are the ones who are taking care of his medical bills, in return he advertises Gold Leaf Tobacco products. It’s all about GLT not Dynamos,’’ he said.

Nyambiya said there is no way a player of Makanda’s quality could make a switch from Highlanders to Dynamos as he feels the striker should now be playing outside the country.

“How can a player move from Highlanders to Dynamos? It doesn’t make sense, a player of Tinashe Makanda’s calibre should not be playing in Zimbabwe,’’ Nyambiya said.

Makanda and Brian Banda had their contracts run their course with Highlanders, with the club said to have been paying the two players full salaries as a way of showing them that they were still wanted at Bosso. Banda was meanwhile, unveiled as an FC Platinum player yesterday.
