“We want to complement Government efforts to upgrade the education standards in the country. We opened a new school at Josiah Tungamirai Airbase in Gweru. We have so far enrolled up to Form Three and we have 172 pupils. Of these 80 are boys while 92 are girls. We have a total of 12 classrooms and two administration blocks. We are in the process of renovating the infrastructure for the school. We need about $ 230 000 for the upgrading exercise. We need about $70 000 for science laboratories, tiles, computers and the computer laboratories. We also need $50 000 for the sports facilities, another $70 000 for new classroom blocks, $ 40 000 for the precast wall to secure the school,” he said.

Group Captain Masakadza said there were plans to introduce A-level at the school hence the need for more infrastructure and learning materials. He said the Air Force has approached the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to deploy more teachers to the school to ensure it meets the recommended teacher-pupil ratio.
