DESPITE a statement stating that Juma Phiri was no longer with Talen Vision, it has turned out that he has since been reassigned to other projects within the institution.

In a statement sent out on 8 June, Mkhululi Mthunzi, the Talen Vision general manager stated that Phiri was no longer with the organisation. Phiri’s last position at Talen Vision was publicity and marketing manager.

However, Khumbulani Nkomo, the Talen Vision said Phiri resigned from the football club on 7 June and has been reassigned to other roles at the organisation. He pointed out that Talen Vision was undergoing transformation and Phiri, who is on leave at moment will be working on community projects in Filabusi as well as Esigodini.

“Talen Vision is going under transformation. Juma Phiri has been reassigned, he is on leave at the moment and resuming his duties on 12 July. He will be part of Talen Vision community projects going forward, especially in Filabusi and Esigodini,’’ Nkomo said.

Phiri said he has been reassigned to be a co-director at Skills Views Sports Consultancy, a company he founded with Kelvin Nkomo, the son of the Talen Vision president. He clarified that if required at the football club, he is more than willing to assist since he still part of the family.

“I have been reassigned to be the co-director at Skills View Sports Consultancy, which is part and parcel of the Talen Vision brand and that is not to say if my skills and expertise are needed at Talen Vision FC I will not assist, I will definitely assist because we are a family,’’ said Phiri.

The 48-year-old high jump national record holder joined Talen Vision in 2015. He started off as the team manager before he went on to become the chief executive officer, club manager as well as publicity and marketing manager.

Phiri expressed his gratitude to Nkomo and his family for the assistance they have given to him over the years. Over the years, the former athlete has enhanced his sports administration skills with a number of qualifications. — @Mdawini_29.
