DAYS after their senior team unveiled new home and away playing kits, Chicken Inn’s developmental side, which plays in the Zifa Bulawayo Division Two League was yesterday among 11 clubs and institutions that received soccer boots from Inspire Women, Men and Children Trust.

Inspire Women Men and Children is a registered charity in the United Kingdom and registered Trust in Zimbabwe. According to the organisation’s projects director, Gift Sanyamahwe, they sourced the boosts from UK based Basildon Boys and Girls Club. They obtained 18 playing kits that they also donated to local clubs from another UK based organisation Kits 4 Causes.

Other clubs and institutions that received boots were ZRP Entumbane, Magwegwe Black Boots, Lobengula City Queens, Lupane based Tshonkongwe High Rovers, Young Stars and Indosakusa.

Phakama Sukuma Community Development Trust from Tsholotsho, Crusaders, Guqeni FC (Nkayi) Jacobs Ladder Trust and Matshobane Soccer Academy got full sets of playing kits.

“We are very much for this kind gesture that has been displayed by Inspire Women Men and Children Trust. It will certainly bring smiles to our boys whom we think will continue to realise that football is a profession that they will need to take more seriously. We say well done to Inspire Women Men and Children Trust,” said Chicken Inn administrator Clemence Matawu.

His sentiments were echoed by Matshobane Soccer Academy director Douglas Ndlovu.

“It’s pleasing. I must say we had been facing challenges with regards to getting playing kits. It’s my hope that our players will now get more motivated by simply putting on the kit that we got. Inspire Women Men and Children Trust must continue with this good work of giving back to the community,” said Ndlovu.

Sanyamahwe said they have been doing community empowerment projects for the past five years and they were indebted to their partners Basildon Boys and Girls Club and Kits 4 Causes who helped them uplift local sporting institutions.

The function was graced by legendary former Highlanders and Warriors forward Zenzo “Zemura” Moyo and ex-Bosso lefty back Gift “Thebe” Lunga. — @FungaiMuderere
