GOALKEEPER Ariel Sibanda is the first recipient of the Body Works Gym Highlanders Player of the Month award for his outstanding display in May.

Sibanda was presented with his award by Body Works Gym director Nathan Greenland and manager Donavan Ashborne in the Bosso changing room at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday. The 29-year old kept four clean sheets and conceded three goals in the six matches that Highlanders played in May.

The award was made up of a grocery hamper and training gear. Greenland said the award is meant to motivate the Highlanders players to perform even better. Indications are that Body Works Gym, where Highlanders and Bulawayo City hold their indoor fitness sessions will sponsor the award for the best Bosso for every month until the end of the season.

Sibanda received the award in the presence of his teammates, on a day he was sent off by Hwange based referee Mhaka Magara for handling a Nigel Makumbe back pass outside the box against Bulawayo Chiefs. From the resultant free kick, Gracious Mleya beat substitute goalkeeper Prosper Matutu to give Chiefs the lead which they held onto until the end to claim yet another famous victory after wins over FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum Stars.
