A NEWLY established career guidance consultancy KAMVA Career Coaching is set to host a fashion event on Africa Day at the National Art Gallery in Bulawayo.

The event, dubbed Fashion Forward Brunch is set to expand the fashion industry through equipping the next generation of designers with the necessary knowledge on fast changing world of fashion designing and the fashion industry in general.

The event will be graced by award winning designers like Sizinio Jordao and other established designers including Nyasha “Diva” Mtamangira of the Diva brand and Nella Farlon who are expected to be the guest speakers.
Farlon confirmed attendance saying she intends to share knowledge and skills required in the fashion industry as well as change how people think about fashion designing.

“I hope to impart knowledge about different careers in fashion that are at the disposal of the upcoming designers, how to start a fashion business or label especially in a country like Zimbabwe where fashion is not fully recognised.”

The event will provide an opportunity for people that have an interest in the fashion industry to interact with established fashion designers. The event will include breakfast, a photoshoot and opportunity for fashion designers to showcase some of their work.

The founder of KAMVA, Nobuhle Ngulube said, “When talent is combined with passion and commitment there is great room for success in the fashion industry.

For many years fashion has been seen as a field for those who have failed to get a job elsewhere. We want the Zimbabwean public to know that we have local designers who can produce world class garments right here.”

The event is the first fashion-themed career breakfast in Bulawayo. It is not simply meant to showcase fashion but to give a clear view of what a career in the fashion industry looks like. Fashion careers like fashion editing, fashion merchandiser and many more will be explained in clearer terms including how one can actually start a career in fashion.

The event is open for people with a desire to showcase their designs.

“There is more to the fashion industry than just the design aspect,” said Ngulube.
