ZIMBABWEAN captain, Mary-Anne Musonda has been invited to take part in the FairBreak Invitational, a women’s Twenty20 cricket tournament to be held in Hong Kong in May.

Musonda joins a number of international women’s cricket stars from over 30 countries that will feature in two-week International Cricket Council sanctioned tournament that has leading healthcare group Gencor as the main sponsor.

“The FairBreak Invitational 2022 (The Tournament) is an ICC sanctioned competition that will take place on May 1 – 15 2022 in Hong Kong in conjunction with Cricket Hong Kong. This six-team tournament is made up of players from all around the world and will be the world’s first privately funded tournament in women’s cricket history with the leading healthcare group Gencor as the lead sponsor,’’ read the tournament description on the FairBreak website.

Organisers of the FairBreak Invitational are excited about the tournament which they outlined as a world first event which marks the beginning of the next chapter in women’s cricket.

Besides the 30-year-old Musonda, other players that have been lined up are Fatima Sana of Pakistan, the South African duo of Magnon du Preez and Shabnim Ismail, Shamilia Connell of the West Indies,

Australian Georgia Redmayne and former Singapore captain, Diviya GK. – @Mdawini_29
