Letters to the Editor: SA xenophobia is an African problem

Louis Moyo

South Africa has become a continental xenophobic arena, thereby creating an unfriendly environment for foreigners.

It looks like other African countries have admitted that there is no solution to the situation as shown by the repatriation of their citizens.

Though the spirit of Ubuntu has escaped the South African society, African countries must unite and address this challenge at national level through employment creation and eradicating poverty as these are push factors behind the increase of foreigners in South Africa.

The South African government must take urgent measures in order to have a solution to this cancer.

Many African countries are grabbing countless headlines repatriating people, giving advice to their citizens in South Africa and this deserves appreciation, but countries need to step a notch higher in creating employment for their citizens. This is an African problem.
