Zimbabwe’s squad of 40 players has already been submitted to the Confederation of African Football. According to Wellington Mpandare, the Zifa general manager for national teams, the squad should be made public this week, with the final list of 23 to be made available 10 days before Zimbabwe’s first match in Cameroon. Zimbabwe face Senegal in their first match at Afcon on 10 January.

Some of the players said to be in the provisional squad are Ngezi Platinum Stars midfielder, Denver Mukamba who has been outstanding for Madamburo this year. Despite announcing that he was retiring from international football, Khama Billiat is also in the provisional squad as Zifa are making efforts to persuade him to change his mind about retirement.

Already ruled out of the tournament are the injured duo of Marshall Munetsi and Brendan Galloway while Tendayi Darikwa asked to be excused from the tournament.
