Makeup turn-offs (MEN secretly hate)

GIRLS, we spend countless hours in front of the mirror with so much makeup spread across the vanity it could be a cosmetic store. This is all in pursuit of the perfect cat-eye, the expertly contoured cheekbone, and the plump pout. And that’s not even to mention the countless dollars spent on all the latest and greatest beauty products. But, what’s the motivation behind the makeup?

For some of you, perhaps it’s a love of all things hailing from the beauty aisle, where trying out a new smoky eye or a bright new lip color is straight-up fun. For others, it’s a way to conceal areas you view as imperfections. Still others may inspire to mimic their favourite celebrity look of the moment. However, let’s face it, for many makeup-wearers (especially those who are single and ready to mingle), impressing the boys is a big motivating factor.

But do the guys really like painted faces, or do they prefer a more natural look? Given all the time and resources dedicated to “putting on your face” each day, let’s press pause for a second and get a few opinions from the men. Men don’t like the following makeup:

Bold Colourful Lipstick

Doing anything to draw attention to your mouth is a good thing. Men said they don’t like bold lipstick as it stains their lips or clothes after kissing their loved ones. So stick to nude lipsticks or lipgloss I guess.

Smoky-Eye Overload

Men cannot resist a come-hither stare, which is often embellished with sexy eye makeup. But they also want to feel like it was their decision to come hither and they’re not just powerless in the tractor beam pull of your smoky eye, even though who are we kidding, they totally are. They just want to feel in control, silly men.

Neon, Dark, and Patterned Manicures

Easily distracted, if you talk with your hands, your colorful manicure might distract a man from . . . whatever it is men think about. Just don’t go overboard with manicures. The crystals, crazy colours and sharp stiletto shaped nails are definitely not something men look forward to.

Dry Flaky Skin

Look, one of the key ways men get their hydration is from sucking it straight from women’s skin via physical contact. Until you can think of a better way for men to hydrate their own thirsty dry bodies, you’d better make sure your skin is plump with moisture. Moisturise your skin, keep it hydrated and looking fresh. Dry skin is a definite NO.

A Sloppy Shave

Men are subconsciously attracted to porpoises so the more your skin can mimic that of a bottle-nose dolphin, the sexier a man will find you. He won’t know why. If you won’t shave you can use hair remover, its less stressful.

Overdone Eyelashes

Eyes are the windows to your soul, right? How’s a dude supposed to wife you up when your soul shutters are laced in black tar? Maybe dudes don’t like mascara because it makes your sadness from their disappointing behavior and treatment that much more evident, tracking black tears down your cheeks. Well, maybe he should’ve thought of that before he made you cry.

Too Much Perfume

Scent is one of the most important factors in attracting a potential mate. Since you can’t quite anticipate what scent a man will prefer, it’s best to keep your scent light and not too overpowering. If you can afford designer perfume the better, but do not bathe in it.

Caked-On Foundation

A perfectly clear, bright and even complexion is a sign of health and youthful vitality. Im yet to meet a man who loves makeup on his woman. Most men prefer the makeup looks as natural as possible. So keep it light and simple, save the face beats for weddings and other functions.

Glitter

Men don’t like it when you shine bright like a disco ball. Glitters are okay if you are in your early teens but a grown woman rocking up with glitter on her face is just weird.
Men will not say much about makeup to our faces because they are afraid lol. But the truth is most of them prefer you looking natural and as beautiful as you are.
