A Mvuma man (35) has been convicted at the High Court sitting in Gweru on murder charges after he killed his 15 month old daughter.
The deceased’s mother had left the infant in the care of the accused, Trust Khaki while she went to collect the family’s share of social welfare food.
This was revealed in a statement released by the National Prosecuting Authority.
“When the now deceased’s mother returned she found the accused holding the deceased and she was struggling to breathe, had a deformed forehead, bruises on the chin, swollen left side and a scratch on the back,” reads the statement.
The deceased was then taken to her grandmother’s place, where they established that she was already dead.
“Investigations revealed that the deceased had been struck once on the head with a blunt object and several times all over her body with an unknown object,” the statement read.
A police report was then made leading to the arrest of the accused person.
The accused person will appear in court on Friday 13 September 2024 for sentencing.
