ZIMBABWEAN midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba has been rewarded for his brilliant exploits for his English club Aston Villa after he won the November Player of the Month.

Aston Villa announced on Friday that Nakamba, who has found a new lease of life under new manager Steven Gerrard was their best player for November.

Nakamba came out tops in an online fans poll which attracted almost 8,000 votes from Villa supporters. He received 36 percent of the votes followed by John McGinn on 24% and 12% of the votes went to Ollie Watkins.

“Your November Player of the Month, in partnership with @CazooUK, is @Nakamba_11,’’ announced Villa.

Nakamba thanked all those who voted for him as the Claret and Blue’s most outstanding player for November.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for me #UTV,’’ posted the Warriors midfielder on Twitter shortly after the club’s announcement.

Nakamba has been in remarkable form since the arrival of Gerrard last month. Gerrard took over from Dean Smith who is now with Norwich City. He played against Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Manchester City and his hunger and fortitude to win the ball as well as his ability to play some delightful one-touch passes was crucial in terms of securing three points for Villa in the first two matches under Gerrard.

While Villa lost 2-1 to the reigning champions, Nakamba was praised for his solid showing.

He is expected to start once again when Villa face Leicester City at Villa Park this evening. This season, Nakamba has appeared 10 times for Villa, with his team having won three and lost six of those matches.

Since he signed for the club at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Nakamba has appeared 52 times for Villa, with 19 of those matches being wins and 25 defeats.

Nakamba last month represented Zimbabwe in a 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier against South Africa at FNB Stadium but missed the last match against Ethiopia at the National Sports Stadium because of a groin problem.  —  @Mdawini_29
