THE Zimbabwe Netball Association (Zina) is on the verge of sinking into oblivion taking into account the number of teams that have left them to join the newly formed, financially powerful Rainbow Amateur Netball League.

Following these recent defections things seem to be falling apart in the Zina as a result of the exodus which has seen most of their members crossing the floor to the newly formed rival league, the latest being Ngezi Platinum Queens.

The management of this league which is accused by these disgruntled members for failing to put something substantial on the table has been proved by clubs that “discourse is power, and power is never central but everywhere,” as once noted by French scholar Michel Foucault.

United around the discourse of netball, clubs packed their bags and crossed over to the financially rich paying league which has come up with an impressive package worth sweating for according to an official of one of the teams who refused to be named.

According to this reliable source from the breakaway team, last year the winners from this league running under the eye of the new kid on the block Rainbow walked away with money last year as compared to a no monetary reward offered by their predecessor.

This season they have in gone a step higher by sponsoring the league to a tune of $500 000, in addition to that teams are not expected to pay any subscription fees nor umpires charges as was the case previously, explained the source.

However, the agreement reached upon between Zina, Ranl and SRC mediating though through separate meetings an indication that all is not well is likely to see the later go through a metamorphosis and return as the supreme netball body in the country.
