NGEZI Platinum Stars ran riot yesterday massacring Yadah to record their biggest victory at Baobab Stadium since their promotion into the top flight in 2016.

The win ensured the Mhondoro based side maintained their position at the summit of the league.

Ngezi Platinum coach Tonderai Ndiraya was full of praise of his charges singling out James Nguluve as the player who made the difference in his team’s victory.

“We were very clinical in front of goal and this has been something that we have been lacking in our previous matches.

“I am happy with the result though I felt that my defence was a bit complacent and overconfident and that is something we should work on.

“I think he (Nguluve) was the reason why we scored three goals in the first half,” said Ndiraya.

Yadah coach Thomas Ruzive blamed his charges for giving too much respect to the log leaders.

“We played very badly and I think my players gave so much respect Ngezi Platinum as log leaders and that led the defeat but you can’t take away the fact that they are a good team,” said the Yadah coach.

Nguluve put Ngezi in front in the 17th minute as two goals were scored in succession in the 38th and 40th minute by Marlon Mushonga and Terence Dzvukamanja.

Yadah, who chased shadows for the whole afternoon could have pulled one back on the brink of half-time when their first attempt at goal of the afternoon by Johannes Sibanda hit the woodwork.

The resumption of the second half saw Yadah coming back an improved side making raids into the Ngezi Platinum Stars half only to blow clear cut chances away. Ralph Matema and Leeroy Mavhunga were the main culprits.

Donald Teguru increased the home team’s lead 12 minutes into the second half before substitute Clive Augusto sealed the hosts victory two minutes into added time.
