NHIMBE Trust’s Nyawo lwami programme recently rolled into Beitbridge in Matabeleland South where the organisation engaged with locals to enhance arts and culture.

The team visited Dumba and Madaula under Chiefs Tshinoni and Tshitaudze where it has a feel of the Venda culture and arts.
“On this visit, safeguarding measures to build the capacity of cultural stakeholders to undertake community-based inventorying of elements of their performing arts heritage commenced with a four-day process involving mapping, scheduling, notifying relevant authorities and confirmation of participation from the communities.

“The team met with the members of the Ministry of Youth Sports, Arts and Recreation, traditional leaders and culture bearers, and dances that were identified were Tshifasi and Malende.Local traditional dance and music practitioners in Dumba offered their homestead as the venue for the activity, and participants included dancers, choreographers, school teachers, students and interested individuals from different homesteads in the community,” said team leader, Trust Gumbo.

Nhimbe trust seeks to promote arts, culture and heritage across the country.
