Pakistan, India exchange fire

Islamabad — Pakistan and India have again exchanged fire over the disputed region of Kashmir after violence earlier this week killed at least five people on both sides of the border. There were no casualties immediately reported.
Pakistan’s army said Indian forces used heavy weapons to target Nezapir sector in Kashmir on Saturday as people there celebrated the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. It said it responded with its own barrage to the “unprovoked firing” by India.

Indian officials could not be reached for comment yesterday. Islamabad and New Delhi routinely blame each other for initiating the fire. — AP
