THE Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services led by Dr Jenfan Muswere, has rallied the nation to come together in marking the 82nd birthday of President Mnangagwa, describing the day as an occasion for reflection on his enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to the country.
President Mnangagwa who recently assumed the chairmanship of SADC was born on 15 September 1942.
In a heartfelt statement, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services celebrated the President’s illustrious journey, emphasising his lifelong dedication to Zimbabwe’s liberation from colonial rule, a journey that began in his youth.
Dr Muswere, along with his deputy, Dr Omphile Marupi, Permanent Secretary Mr Nick Mangwana and Chief Director Mr Jonathan Gandari collectively paid tribute to the contribution of President Mnangagwa to the nation’s foundational architecture at independence.
“On the special occasion of his 82 birthday anniversary, the Ministry joins the Nation and the World at large in resolutely saluting the Head of State’s unflinching and faithful commitment to Zimbabwe’s freedom from colonial bondage. This is visibly and undoubtedly demonstrated by his ultimate self-investment in the anti-colonial cause from a tender age.
“The celebration of President Mnangagwa’s birthday serves as a reminder of his tireless commitment to ensuring freedom and sovereignty for the people of Zimbabwe,” the statement read.
The Ministry acknowledged the President’s notable achievements during his tenure dating back to his appointment as Vice-President in 2014, and highlighted his pro-people leadership qualities that have garnered admiration both locally and abroad.
The Ministry said President Mnangagwa’s life has been characterised by diligence, hard work, and virtue—a leadership ethos that continues to inspire many.
“Cde Dr E.D Mnangagwa is a living parable of diligence, hard work, virtue and honour. Therefore, the celebration of his birthday is symbolic of how we cherish his tangible lifelong exploits for national independence, the ferocious protection of national sovereignty, poverty eradication and the creation of a just society for all.
“His leading role in the nationalist renaissance that gave birth to the Second Republic is evident of his sincere adherence to the preservation of our enduring liberation values and unflinching loyalty to the ‘Will of the People’, which in turn is the ‘Will of God’.”
The Ministry said: “His journey is a living testament to the values of our liberation struggle and the sacrifices made toward achieving a just and equitable society.”
Further acclaim was directed at the political reforms and socio-economic transformations initiated under the President’s leadership, which are vital in steering the nation toward its Vision 2030 goal of becoming an Upper Middle-Class Economy.
“Further to this, the Vision of an Upper Middle-Class Economy by 2030 finds safety in the palms of his patriotic zeal for a better Zimbabwe,” said the Ministry.
