WITH the Zifa Southern Region Division One League season drawing closer, new boys Quality Foods are holding trials for two weeks in an attempt to beef up their squad.

With a youthful team, Quality Foods are expecting a stern test in their debut season in the Zifa Southern Region Division One League and have already stepped up their preparations for the upcoming seasoning.

Spearheaded by their youthful coach Loverty Mabunda (26), Quality Foods sealed promotion to the Southern Region Division One alongside Bulawayo Chiefs.

According to Mabunda the turnout to the trials being held at Mambo Grounds in Tshabalala has been encouraging.

“The response has been good, there are a lot of young players that have come through to try their luck from different areas, even as far as Hwange,” Mabunda said.

Mabunda remains adamant that despite the talk of needing to bolster his squad in the form of seasoned figures, his team will earn their stripes as they play in the division.

“We are targeting players from 22 years going down, we don’t want to bring old players because we are now in Division One, we will continue using young players. They can talk about experience in Division One but I believe for them to have experience they must also play,” he added.
