AWARD-WINNING hip-hop artiste and Bulawayo-born Mlungisi “Mlue Jay” Moyo says he is excited for his first Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA) nomination and being nominated with great artistes from the city.
Mlue Jay has been nominated in the Outstanding Hip Hop Artist/Act and faces competition from Msizkay, MUSE, Rockie Doub, Awa and Luminious. Speaking from his South African base, Mlue Jay said it was a great honour to get recognition among other good artistes in the city.

“It is great to be nominated for the BAA. It is my first time being nominated and I am glad to be nominated with the great artistes from the City of Kings. A big shout-out to everyone nominated, may the best man win. To me it’s not about the competition. Everyone who is nominated is good at what they do and they deserve to be nominated. The nomination for me is already a win not just for me but for the culture,” he told Sunday Life.

He also highlighted that his debut album Donatella was doing well and has over 50 000 streams on Spotify.

“In the past year, I have been tapping into the digital space and was able to get over 50 000 streams on one of the world recognised music streams platforms shows and I think I am in the right direction. The nomination has further given me the zeal to uplift my career and I will be heading to the drawing board to see how best I can keep upbeat,” said Mlue Jay.
