ONE of the eye-catching moves as the English Premier League transfer window closed was that of 17-year-old midfielder Seth Chingwaro who made the switch from Manchester City’s renowned academy to Fulham FC.
Chingwaro, not a household name before the move, has been grabbing the headlines after the recent move.
The London club, Fulham, secured the promising Zimbabwean talent for a reported £750 000, marking a major milestone in his young career.
After six years at City, where he developed through their youth ranks, Chingwaro is now ready to take on the challenge of the Premier League, with hopes of breaking into Fulham’s first team and, eventually, representing Zimbabwe on the international stage, if he chooses to play for Zimbabwe.
Chingwaro was born in the United Kingdom to Zimbabwean parents and has a decision to make when it comes to his international career.
At City, Chingwaro made four appearances in the Under-18s Premier League North. He is excited to be joining Fulham.
“It’s a great feeling to join Fulham. I am really looking forward to the opportunities here and pushing on to hopefully make the First Team in the future. I am a creative player. I like to play in pockets, get on the ball and dribble with it,” said Chingwaro.
He is represented by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports agency which is a renowned stable which is accustomed with big names in football
Seth’s strengths include his ability to play in either a defensive midfield role, or more advanced where he is effective at driving with the ball and creating opportunities.
He is a technically gifted player who can play off both feet.
Seth, who turned 17 in December will be looking to make an immediate impact at his new club and put up a fight to eventually break into the first team.
