Silver Slipper Race postponed again

THE 1 800m Silver Slipper race the second leg of the Tripple Tiara that was set for running this afternoon at Borrowdale Racecourse has been postponed to a later date. 

According to  racing manager Betina Gurajena the event has been moved forward due to poor nominations.

“You are advised that the 19th of May 2019 Borrowdale meeting has been cancelled due to poor nominations, we are going ahead with the 1st of June meeting as the programme,” wrote Gurajena to stakeholders.

This is the second time that the event has been shelved this year. Its original date was 24 March. Silver Slipper is one of the feature races on the domestic calendar. It has a declared stake of RTGS$8 000. The postponement of the race will see the nation shift its focus to the OK Grand Challenge Horse Race scheduled for 1 June at Borrowdale. As part of preparations for the event of 17 entries, the majority of the runners have taken part in the last big races held at the racecourse recently also performed beyond expectations. Included in the heartbreak kids Peggson alongside his partner in crime Arte from the yards of Bridget Stidolph as well as Kirk Swanson.
