THE Zifa Southern Region Division One’s most captivating team was Arenel Movers, and it was never in doubt as their numbers were evident.
It will also be no surprise if they dominate the best 11 list compiled by Zimpapers’ Sports Hub. In between the goalposts the crew voted for Arenel’s number one, Aaron Ngwenya. He played a significant role for the champions as his defence only conceded four goals throughout the season, showing how much keeping the back door shut contributed to their overall dominant finish to this year’s season.

Arenel’s experienced defender Charlton Siamalonga was chosen to be the first centreback. He was consistent for the whole season, and just like Aaron, his talent and leadership was key in his team’s success. It was also accompanied by a couple of important goals, therefore he deserved a place in the team.
Another centreback to partner Siamalonga is Arenel’s Arthur Ngwenya. Brimming with confidence, he is a great complement to his fellow defenders. His robust character and aggression also caused some fear to his opponents hence he was the perfect one for the position.

Talen Vision’s Daven Fuzani was chosen as the rightback. It was probably one of his best seasons. He managed to provide 10 assists for his teammates from a defensive position and was very consistent, featuring 31 times for Golding Dube’s men.
On the leftback was Bosso90’s Luckmore Mutumbi. The skilled and talented leftback/cum centreback only missed one match through suspension. With him only being 21 years of age, the best is still yet to come.
In defensive midfield, it is difficult to overlook Arenel’s vice-captain, Brian Jaravaza. His skill and mental ability to harass opponents, threading dangerous passes and scoring important goals made him undoubtedly the best player for that position.
Arenel’s Leroy Ndlovu was chosen as the right winger. Eight goals from midfield in such a tough league shows how talented the 22-year-old on loan from Chicken Inn is.
On the left wing, we chose Mainline’s Mthabisi Sibanda. The 23-year-old had 11 goal contributions, scoring three and providing eight assists. He is a force to be reckoned with from the Plumtree Town-based team. Simbarashe Madzivire had a staggering season in his second year at Bosso90. He is the team’s leading scorer with nine goals, as a midfielder. He will also be hoping that he rises from this kind of form.

The first striker is undoubtedly Proud Khuphe, he was the league’s top scorer with 17 goals. The Mainline attacker was in the form of his life. To partner Khuphe, the team chose Ryan Ncube. The Mosi Rovers striker scored 10 goals and is the second top scorer. The coach of the season is Kudzai Mhandire, coach of the record breaking champions, Arenel Movers.
