REIGNING Bulawayo Social Soccer champions Stars FC are on the verge of picking their second trophy in succession.

They have been the most dominant team this year winning most of the games in their respective pool, scoring an avalanche of goals during some meetings.

Led by the former Bosso as well as Zimbabwe Saints strong man Chipo “Jack Roller” Tsodzo who is surrounded by a number of ageless former PSL players they proved to be a thorn in the flesh for many.

For that season, there is no way the squad, led by local businessman Jemias “Gwekwerere” Cheteni could miss the big one. A win by the “tika taka” boys this afternoon will be enough for them to wear the crown in Pool A.

According to Linda Bhebhe, Stars FC secretary general the game against Ndola Stars is going to be tricky since it is a derby.

“It is a derby therefore a tricky encounter, indeed but we are going in it with all armoury, with the greatest zeal to seal it off on a highest note ever. As for the Champion of Champions we are also claiming it, they don’t call us Stars FC for nothing, actually the pot is already brewing, the champagne in place ready to pop up in celebration,” she declared.

A win will pave the way for a blockbuster encounter against winners of pool B to determine the champion of champions for the year 2019 in Bssl social soccer.

In pool B all eyes will be on the log leaders Skippers who are away to Finance. They still need to keep running before they know their fate since there are a number of shadows lurking behind them.
Nkosilathi “Guttuso” Nkomo, Skippers coach said the message to the players at this stage was to remain focused while taking one game at a time.

“As Skippers we are trying to motivate our players to remain focused and take one day at a time to avoid disappointment at this stage. At the same time we are trying hard to win every game considering that all remaining matches are tricky games to us,” said Nkomo.

From the two pools Man U as well as Mayihlome respectively are still in it unless something happens during the remaining games.

In the Skies Social Soccer league games played last week, log leaders Zimra were the biggest winners after scoring a dozen of goals against two score by NetOne.

The second highest scoring team was Red Seal who clobbered Swift 4-0. Second-placed Rolling Stars kept the pressure on the log leaders when they won 3-0 against Airport.

Blue Stars survived an onslaught form Steward bank to win 3-2. Oldnic fended stiff competition for Econet Kwese to win 2-0 while Engutsheni as well as Mandate shared the spoils in a 1 all draw.
