The break worked to our advantage: Kaindu Kelvin Kaindu

HIGHLANDERS head coach Kelvin Kaindu believes they utilised the recent two-week international break to their advantage as it gave a number of players time to recover from injuries.

Bosso are smarting from an indifferent month of May that saw them register four draws and post a single defeat.

It was in the same month that the Bulawayo giants used permutation line-ups as some of their arsenal was either in the treatment room or suspended.

This afternoon Kaindu and his charges welcome Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newboys Bikita Minerals at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

“I think in terms of our preparation after the break that we had, we used the break to our advantage for the players that had sustained some injuries in the last games. Some even missed the very last match that we played against Greenfuel,” said Kaindu.

“There is always a tendency of getting complacent when playing against these kind of teams. However, we will need to guard against that.”

The duo of Godfrey Makaruse and Gillian Nyathi are up and about amid revelations that Andrew Mbeba who was on national duty with the Warriors during Zimbabwe’s World Cup qualifiers last week is also available for selection.

In-form Lynoth Chikuhwa is expected to lead a Bosso strike force alongside a now fully fit Brighton Ncube.

Interestingly, Bikita Minerals boast of the services of the ex-Bosso duo of Masimba Mambare and Allen Gahadzikwa who all have proven influential for their new paymasters.

The agding pair has helped Bikita Minerals grind results on a number of times.

Bottom placed Hwange entertain Greenfuel at the Colliery Stadium. Chipangano, who have so far registered a single win and five draws, are on eight points.

The coalminers are now under the guidance of ex-Greenfuel coach Rodwell Dhlakama.

Former league champions Dynamos have a home tie against ZPC Kariba at Rufaro Stadium. DeMbare have not been performing well and the club’s head coach Genesis Mangombe has been heavily criticised for the failure to post positive results after managing only four wins in 14 games, with the victories against the newly promoted sides TelOne, Arenel Movers, Bikita Minerals and Chegutu Pirates.

PSL returnees TelOne meet CAPS United at Gweru’s Bata Stadium.

Mhondoro’s Baobab Stadium will be the venue for the game between Chegutu Pirates and Herentals.-@FungaiMuderere
