The mystery of fire

The Sunday News

Apostle Chisale
GREETINGS beloved nation in the name of Jesus Christ. In the book of Jeremiah 23:29 it says, “Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord,” We discover that the word of God is likened to fire and the Holy Spirit is also likened to fire, meaning the word of God burns.

In the book of Luke 24:23 it says, “They asked each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?’” We see after the resurrection of Jesus Christ the words that he spoke burnt within the hearts of the two men when he was speaking to them on their way to Emmaus. In the book of Act 2:3 it says, “They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.” We see that the Holy Spirit when it came on the day of Pentecost it appeared like tongues of fire meaning the tongues that they spoke were filled with fire. One time Jeremiah said in chapter 20:9 that the word of God is like fire shut up in my bones. We want to look at the mystery of fire.

According to the scriptures we discover that the Kingdom of God is surrounded by fire meaning that the church must walk in fire. John spoke about Jesus that he will baptise us with fire as we see in Matthew 3:1, “I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance. But he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”

We see John talking about the baptism of fire. In the past weeks we were talking about the blood of Jesus Christ which qualified us so that we may be baptised with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Now he shows us that there is something about fire. Fire burns and fire purifies.

This means that as believers we are supposed to be carriers of fire and this fire comes from the Holy Ghost. The churches must be filled with fire.

Let us not forget that we are living altars and an altar carries fire. We cannot talk about an altar without fire and the biggest altar is our hearts. We can ask, is the fire still burning in the altars of our hearts, our ministries because fire also brings judgement to our spiritual enemies.

Is fire seen or felt when the Praise and Worship team sings, because if fire is not seen or felt we are as cold as the ocean and that attracts the enemy?

There are certain diseases, demons or attacks that come to an individual or churches when there is no fire. The fire I am talking about is a spiritual fire that causes demons, sickness to be uncomfortable.

One of the painful things for a believer is to be cold and without fire, even when you speak you cannot convince a person or change a situation simply because you are cold. We realise that Jesus was full of fire and at times demons would scream wanting to be left alone because his command or words could burn demons causing them to be uncomfortable. The Bible tells us in Mathew 12:43, “When a defiling evil spirit is expelled from someone, it drifts along through the desert looking for an oasis, some unsuspecting soul it can bedevil. When it doesn’t find anyone, it says, “I’ll go back to my old haunt.”

On return it finds the person spotlessly clean, but vacant. We see that when demons come out of a man, the Bible says they go to the desert seeking rest but find none. There is something amazing here, demons are cast out of a man, according to the words of our Lord Jesus, and they go into the desert. There is something you should understand about the desert; it is (i) hot, (ii) dry (iii) has no water. Jesus says these demons will go back to their house, talking about a man.

Demons want to rest inside of people. My question is in the desert the demons could not find rest and they leave the desert without any intercessor or prayer warrior casting them out, and this is because the desert is very hot and it causes demons to be uncomfortable. In verse 44 it says I will go back to my house. Imagine demons calling a person their house. So why are they going back to a man, what makes them not afraid to go back to a man. This is because many times when we talk about demons we imagine them screaming, forgetting that they are evil spirits and can stay in a man of God or any worshipper quietly and begin to influence the person or sponsor calamities, misfortunes without being detected. Some of the things that attract demons in a person’s life is that (i) a person has blood (ii) a person is 80-90% water. You will discover that 90% of the demons that are controlling people and nations are marine spirits because they identify themselves with water.

We need to invoke the mystery of fire in our lives so that our bodies are surrounded by fire so that these spirits even without praying will feel uncomfortable in any believer’s life, like in the desert. (To be continued)
