The solution is balance

The Sunday News

Itai Chipunza

THE other day I was reading the news at home, from about thirty minutes of reading, the only fair thing to say is that news these days is very depressing. From wars between police and people selling fake goods in Johannesburg, to white supremacy shootings in America, nothing was joyful. Suicides on the rise, and more and more people feel trapped in a race to make it with no victory in sight.

The solution for me, can be summarised in one word, “balance”. There is a need for us to be balanced people. If we are too focused on spirituality and ignore the need to work and think strategically for our time on earth, we will find ourselves in a situation where we blame God for our failures because we think it his responsibility to work for us.

If we are too glued on making money and forget that we are spiritual beings, we will find ourselves chasing quick fixes from prophets because the void in our hearts resulting from Godlessness can only be filled by finding God. Supply and demand rise and fall until they achieve balance. This balance is known as equilibrium. This is what our lives should be.

The equilibrium price is the price at which the producer can sell all the units he wants to produce and the buyer can buy all the units he wants. Market equilibrium refers to a state where the quantity demanded and quantity supplies of any given product are equal.

Balance is essential in one’s life. If you cannot balance your life you are likely to hit a snag. It’s important that you reach equilibrium. Balance your work with family and church etecetera, but in your quest to reach equilibrium do not put God in the equation because if you do; you are in danger of idolism (weighing Him with other things). He is in demand remember and too valuable to be equated. The law is “Put God first and balance the rest.”

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, He is the ancient of days, the unchangeable one hence His value doesn’t fluctuate but remains precious for eternity.

Luke 6 verse 38

“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

I have found over time that God will never do more than you hunger Him to do for you. In simpler terms God will not force feed his grace and blessings on anyone. If you show signs of satisfaction, He stops the supply. When demand drops, his supply drops at the same level. He adjusts His supply into your life the way the market self-adjusts. Meaning the more you give yourself to Him, the more He gives to you and that’s why the Bible says draw near to God and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). To most people Luke 6 verse 38 refers only to money, but the revelation there is far more than money.

This verse also talks about how much you give yourself into your craft. The more you give yourself to your craft, the more the craft gives itself to you. The more a pianist plays and practises, he gains a new level of understanding of the instrument. As a result he is able to play more complicated tunes.

Give, and it will be given to you, a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. This is how the instrument gives itself to him; He begins to understand it in the most basic language. You form a relationship with whatever you are giving yourself to.

I read an article about a famous football player who joined a lucrative club, training started at 08:00. He was there at the training facilities at 06:00am. Two hours earlier than everyone else.

The people cleaning the facilities would often see him kicking the ball around. At first they thought it was excitement of joining a new football club, but his consistency proved to be more than just excitement. When he was asked why he was there that early in an interview he said “I will be forming a relationship with the ball.” He is one of the best wingers in the football business today.

“Give and it shall be given back to you.” This principle applies both in a negative and positive manner. The more one gives himself to sin and sinful desires, the more complex and dangerously they engage in sin. Obviously this means the level of demons one deals with in more complex sort of sin will also be of greater magnitude. Expect a good measure of it, pressed down, shaken together and running over.

The more the market demands, the more the manufacturer supplies to meet the demand. So if you give yourself to God and His work, it will be given back to you. “A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” It is there for biblical reference; expect a return associated with God.

What you give may not be exactly what you get. You should expect more than you give because God Himself has said you won’t get exactly what you gave, He said you will get a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. You must therefore expect a profit in the work you do for God. It then becomes biblical to take your ministry seriously because it is an investment. You must do it joyfully as well because you are profiting from it. No one is sad when they are making good clean wealth. Be blessed.
