THE issuance of title deeds to beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme is progressing smoothly with an expected 2500 beneficiaries to receive their documents by March 2025.

In December last year, President Mnangagwa highlighted the bold initiative to empower over 380 000 beneficiaries of the land redistribution programme describing it as a significant step in honouring the legacy of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.

He emphasised that the policies and initiatives of the Second Republic are designed to increase production and productivity propelling the nation towards achieving Vision 2030.

Providing an update on the process, Professor Obert Jiri the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development confirmed that efforts are ongoing.

“We are expediting the issuance of title deeds. Our technical department is currently focused on cleaning up the beneficiary list. We anticipate that the next batch of 2500 beneficiaries will be completed by March 2025. We are working diligently to ensure the accuracy of this information before proceeding with the printing process,” he stated.

Professor Jiri also noted, “We are in the midst of printing title deeds for this batch. We expect that many A2 farmers who currently hold 99-year leases will soon have access to their titles. The process is advancing well and we are committed to ensuring that this programme runs smoothly.”

The initiative to issue deeds of transfer to beneficiaries of the Land Reform Programme aims to unlock the value of the land. This significant act will provide new tenure documents to over 23500 A2 farmers and more than 360 000 A1 farmers.

In December 2024, President Mnangagwa launched the Land Tenure Implementation Programme at Pricabe Farm in Kwekwe marking the beginning of an important initiative aimed at enhancing land tenure security and unlocking economic potential for landowners. During the launch, ten farmers received their title deeds, symbolising the start of a programme expected to benefit all beneficiaries of the land reform programme.

Spearheaded by the Land Tenure Implementation Committee (LTIC), this programme aims to transition land currently held under 99-year leases, offer letters and permits into bankable, registrable and transferable titles.
