VERSATILE songstress and broadcaster The Kasi Princess (TKP) has dropped a single titled Stay With Me  featuring South Africa’s  DJ Colastraw.

The song has two versions, the original which is a soulful house track while the remix is an amapiano version. The former Skyz Metro FM Vuka Vuka breakfast show co-host who worked alongside Babongile Skhonjwa, resigned in March last year and shifted base to South Africa.

Speaking from her base in Johannesburg, TKP, real name Sandisiwe Dube said she was overwhelmed with the response her new single was getting from her native country and her new home.

“I met DJ Colastraw and he played me some of his songs and I loved the sound. He listened to my tracks and he wanted us to go to the studio immediately. A few weeks later he sent me an instrumental and I went to Botswana and we did the track. People really love amapiano and I guess that’s why it’s doing so well. It’s being played here in South African radios and whenever we get interviews on the radio the response is just amazing. DJ Colastraw played it at the Victoria Falls Carnival and it was a hit. I know it’s an amazing song but for people to ask about it on social media is just wow.”

TKP said her move to South Africa was met with devastating effects as settling to a new place was not easy.

“The move was so sudden and that meant a lot of things sort of went off balance for a while. Although my family was there for me there were strangers who were also there for me. I sort of didn’t see 2019 because I was trying to settle in Johannesburg and it took longer than I thought it would. I have made quite a few friends since arriving here last year. The first days honestly I felt lonely and I was sad for a long time when I moved here. It was the same case even on my birthday,” said the soft-spoken former radio presenter.

On whether she will ply the radio trade in the foreign country, Ndlunkulu, as she is also known, said, “If I get that opportunity I’d consider it. I’m still enjoying the break though, but I also miss being on the radio.”

TKP urged Zimbabwe-based artistes to monetise their brands so as to leave a mark in their careers. Before the Zimbabwe Music Awards (Zima) went on a four-year hiatus, TKP was nominated in the Best House Music category for her song Mhururu.
