Two test positive for Covid-19 at National Blood Service Zimbabwe Esther Massundah

TWO individuals at the National Blood Service Zimbabwe, an employee and one from a service provider have tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a statement released on Friday, NBSZ public affairs manager, Esther Massundah said as part of random testing of staff, PCR tests were carried out with the two individuals testing positive for Covid-19.

“NBSZ advises the public that as part of our routine random testing for staff, there were COVID-19 PCR tests done on employees and one service provider. There were two positives recorded; one positive from an employee and another positive from one of our service providers. The two who tested positive are self-isolating at home,’’ Massundah said.

Massundah stated that as a cautionary move, the affected work station has been fumigated on Friday. NBSZ also conducts routine sanitization of vehicles and premises as its five branches countrywide to fight the spread of Covid-19.

“As a precautionary measure, the affected section has been disinfected today Friday 7 August 2020. NBSZ carries routine disinfection services on its motor vehicles and office premises at its 5 branches. We wish the two a speedy recovery,’’ she said.

NBSZ have said they are aware of a spike in Covid-19 cases in the country and assured the public that they are doing all they can to make sure that blood donors are safe all the time during the process of donating the lifesaving precious liquid.
