THE Beautiful Bulawayo Trust (BBT) has appointed five international brand ambassadors, a facelift that will blend different ideas and strategies for the revival of Bulawayo and the country as a whole.

BBT which hails out of Bulawayo “the city of Kings” is a multi-faceted initiative which seeks to anchor our “teapot shaped” nation, Zimbabwe’s economic growth, promote its heritage and preserve its African identity as it leverages the city of Bulawayo and in turn the nation’s comparative advantages.

Based in the United States of America, one of the ambassadors is Carolyn Anderson SECCES Productions and Beyond All Borders president and chief executive officer CEO, globally recognised mover and shaker in the fields of special events and travel planning. Known for her creative ideas, enthusiasm, professionalism and extensive knowledge of world markets, Anderson’s data base of contacts is unmatched and has constantly received requests to lend her expertise and insight for marketing to people of colour.

USA-based Gwen Khumalo has also been titled BBT international brand ambassador who is a real estate consultant and entrepreneur by profession. Her philanthropic mission as a child born and raised in Zimbabwe in the city of Bulawayo is to explore ways in which the modern child could enjoy their childhood as she did, from excellent education to the lush green parks where she played.

BBT also appointed Zimbabwe-born and United Kingdom-based businessman Trust Simbarashe Gushure as an international brand ambassador. He is a strategist, advisor and consultant for towns, cities and various governments dotted around the globe. He was recently engaged by the Zimbabwean government to undertake various development and capacity building initiatives following the adaptation of his innovative and strategic twinning model by the government.

Michael Ndinisa, the founder and CEO of MN Capital Group, a leading emerging markets investment communication and research company was also nominated and appointed a BBT brand ambassador. He has over 18 years of multi-disciplinary experience, including international business development, Events Management, Fund Raising and diplomacy. Ndinisa also serves as partner of Africonomie UK, a leading emerging markets professional services firm and has organised high level stakeholder roundtables, initiated and led public-private partnership initiatives, and advised on Foreign Investment projects through the African continent.

The fifth brand ambassador, Harold Sharara an acclaimed academic, whose specialization is research in Educational Psychology and the Social Sciences. He has a deep understanding of Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, and enjoys experimenting with Mixed Methodologies. Sharara has also written peer reviewed articles that have been published by the Boston College, the University of Ottawa and other academic institutions in Europe, and Asia among others.

BBT founding trustee, Darlington Nyika said the addition of the international brand ambassadors will aid the trust to fully fulfil its purpose.

“The Beautiful Bulawayo Trust anchors on four pillars which are destination marketing, economic development, business networking and nation building. The international brand ambassadors will play an integral role in ensuring that the vehicle finds its place in the market place, both nationally and on the globe,” he said.
