Vic Falls’ Kweseka set for great heights

VICTORIA Falls-based band Kweseka is determined to keep on drifting forward just like their name Kweseka, which means drifting ahead.

Band member Oscar Nyathi said the band was formed in 2013 by Prester Chungu and Prosper Nyathi.

“The band was formed six years ago by and currently we have six members who include Prosper Nyathi, Prester Chungu, Simon Masendeke, Moreblessing Mwaipopo, Craig Meluleki Ncube and Yolanda Mambo,” he said.

Nyathi said the band specialises on Afro fusion music.

“Generally we play Afro-fusion. We are blending different types of genres making it one sound where we focus on impressing any listener.

“As Kweseka we have travelled to countries like the Netherlands and Belgium where we had gone for our Imagine Festival to represent Zimbabwe and the continent, that is after we won our first award in Harare at Music Crossroads (Zimbabwe),” he said.

The biggest challenge that the band is facing is lack of management.

“The first challenge we still have is we are still managing ourselves, we wish to get someone who will focus on getting us more shows  so that us we focus on sessions for the sake of our progress and let the world listen to what we have,” said Nyathi.
