Victory over crisis

Sunday Sermon with Apostle Chisale

GREETINGS, beloved nation, in the name of Jesus Christ. As it is written in 1 John 5:4-5, “4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

The Bible assures us that whoever is born of God overcomes the world. We live in challenging times, filled with discouragement and rapid changes that often work to our disadvantage. The prevalence of demonic activity and darkness has left many feeling hopeless and directionless.

People face defeat in various aspects of life—business, marriage, finances—and their fears are valid. An evil force is at work, promoting wickedness, death and disappointment around the globe. Sadly, many have given up hope, including men and women of God.

But I am here to encourage you! The Bible assures us that despite what we see in the world, there is still hope in the Lord Jesus Christ for those who believe. As it states, “For whosoever is born of God overcomes the world.” Therefore, we are guaranteed that no matter what we face, we are overcomers because we are born of God.

Let the giant within you arise, both in prayer and in faith. Whatever the enemy has stolen from you, God is in the process of restoring it because you are an overcomer and a child of God. Many have placed their trust in worldly things, neglecting to call on the name of Jesus, the One who can deliver us from all calamities. Jesus Himself said to His disciples, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

The Bible declares that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord. Whatever the devil has intended for evil, God is turning it for good, provided we rise up in prayer and faith, putting on the garments of victory and standing firm in the knowledge that we are on the winning side. Refuse to be discouraged; refuse to give up!

There is a God in Heaven. We must maintain a winner’s attitude, regardless of our circumstances. Let us rise and confront every demon that seeks to rob us of the graces God has given us. We can reclaim what’s rightfully ours through prayer, declarations, binding the enemy and demanding our blessings back.

Remember, we are born of God, we are overcomers and victory is ours. Let us engage in fervent prayer.

As it is written in 2 Samuel 23:9-10, “And after him was Eleazar, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were gathered together to battle and the men of Israel were gone away: 10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day and the people returned after him only to spoil.”

A great army of Philistines had come against Israel, causing the people to flee in fear. It’s astonishing that these were God’s people retreating from battle. I found myself asking, “Where was God while His people ran?”

They were discouraged, feeling like grasshoppers against their powerful foes. But remember, we walk by faith, not by sight. Although the Philistines appeared mightier, the children of Israel took their eyes off God and succumbed to fear.

They forgot that God was with them and chose to run away, losing their faith in Him. We see a similar pattern in today’s world, where many have turned away from God and fallen spiritually asleep.

May the spirit that was upon Eleazar descend upon the church of God once more! The Bible tells us that Eleazar

“Rose up and smote the Philistines.” What a man! He made the decision to remember that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Let us refuse to flee from our circumstances instead of facing our battles with the assurance that God fights for us—the battle belongs to the Lord. Rise in faith and stand firm against any spirit that brings sickness, disease, unemployment and disappointment.

Declare, “I am a child of God, and I will stand in faith until the Lord sees me through, just as He did for Eleazar.”

As Ephesians reminds us, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers of darkness.” These forces are responsible for the struggles we face today. We must confront them like Eleazar. In this season, it is vital to engage in prayer. Even when we grow weary, we must persist because it is evident that the devil seeks to overwhelm the church of God with wickedness. God is looking for men and women to partner with Him—those who will fight like Eleazar.

His hand clave to the sword, a sign of persistence—because we know that persistence breaks resistance. The spirit upon Eleazar was the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus calls our “helper.” May the Holy Spirit come to our aid in times of trouble, granting us victory.

Let us invite the Holy Spirit to empower us. Eleazar fought the Philistines alone, yet the Bible states that “the Lord wrought a great victory that day.” Imagine the power of one person filled with the Holy Spirit! “And the people returned after him only to spoil.” When we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us, others will partake in the blessings God has given us after we’ve fought life’s battles through prayer and the word.

Victory brings testimony and blessings. Remember, without a battle, there is no victory.

For those who are not born again, I invite you to accept Jesus as your personal Saviour, for true victory can only be found in Him. May the Lord God bless our beloved nation of Zimbabwe. Amen.
