THE decision by the Zimbabwe Football Association to sell tickets for the Warriors’ last Africa Cup of Nations match against Congo Brazzaville next month is paying off with thousands having been bought so far.

Zifa communications and competitions manager Xolisani Gwesela last Friday said the tickets were selling fast with thousands sold. The Zifa spokesperson said they will release the actual figures of tickets that have been bought during the course of this week.

“People are buying these tickets like hot cakes, what I can confirm is that thousands of tickets have been bought across the board. We encourage people to buy these tickets in time so that they are not inconvenienced at the stadium and come to the stadium early on the day of the match,’’ Gwesela said.

A total of 50 000 tickets, which is the carrying capacity for the National Sports Stadium are available with $10 for the rest of the ground, $50 for bay 15 to 18 with those wishing to occupy the VIP forking out $200.

“From mid-week, we should be able to give accurate figures. Fifty thousand tickets have been made available for the match,’’ Gwesela said.

The Felton Kamambo-led Zifa board resolved last month to sell tickets for the clash between Zimbabwe and Congo Brazzaville in advance with no pay point available at the stadium on the day of the match.

It is the first time that Zifa have introduced advance tickets for national team matches and this was done so as to avoid chaos at the gates.

Physical tickets are available at the Zifa offices at Number 53 Livingstone Avenue in Harare while online they can be purchased at clicknpay.

Zimbabwe are on top of their group with eight points, followed by Liberia on seven. With two teams guaranteed a spot at the tournament to be held in Egypt starting on 7 June, Zimbabwe just need to avoid defeat against bottom placed Congo Brazzaville to secure their fourth appearance at the Afcon.
