AFTER securing qualification for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Zimbabwe turn their attention to the 2022 Fifa World Cup African qualifiers second round which get underway in June.
Zimbabwe are in Group G with Ethiopia, Ghana and South Africa. Winners of each group will then head into a third round of qualifiers in November this year, with five teams from the African continent to make it to the World Cup in Qatar. First up for Zimbabwe is a clash with neighbours South Africa and then Ethiopia a few days later.
The matches are in June. In September, the Warriors have back to back fixtures against Ghana. October sees Zimbabwe clash with South Africa away before they round off the second-round qualifiers with a home fixture against Ethiopia. Zimbabwe qualified for the second round of the qualifiers following their 3-2 on aggregate win over Somalia. The Warriors lost the first leg in Djibouti 1-0 before they made amends at home with a 3-1 triumph to make it to the second round.
