Ways of overcoming fear

One person asked me a question, WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO WASTE MY LIFE? That was a burning question for our talk show for the whole week. Many ended up asking, WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO LIVE WELL . . . not to waste life? I asked the group a question, what was the opposite of not wasting life? To be successful in a career? Or to be maximally happy , or to accomplish something great? etc . . .
Many live fearing to fail, to lose and fail their beloveth. Most of the time we do things for people and for ourselves because we fear the society or those who are close.

Fear to lose is holding many people back. Many are suffering today because they fear to walk away. They value time spent than time to be spent. Viewing life using a rear view mirror will always direct us backwards.

Work yourself out of fear. Here are some ways you can use:

Get your fear down on paper, don’t try to think of them. If you have a fear of being successful or failure I suggest you seek a life coach. Many people don’t have life coaches, marriage counsellors, business coaches, financial advisors etc, the absence of a coach is the building of fear in life. A good life coach can help you examine what you truly want from life. I’ve spoken to a few people in my life and while it can be scary, it’s very helpful in getting clear about what you want and what’s stopping you.

You can look for books that speak about the specific fear you are having. Take action when you discover something you need to do. Don’t procrastinate, arise and do it. I know that fears are just fears, they are created by imaginations making reality more scarier. When you take action and face your fears, they become weaker, because you realise that isn’t nearly as bad as your imagination.

Watching a movie or documentary can be as enlightening as reading a book. Sometimes it’s nice to distract yourself from your fear, but if you really want to, you can find dozens of Christian dvds on the fear you are dealing with.

Whenever fear strikes you, flip it over. Instead of thinking of something bad that can happen, think of something positive.

Remember Proverbs 23:7 says,” . . . as a man thinks in his heart, so is he . . .” What’s a positive outcome to your fear? If you’re thinking to fail before you even sit for the exams, interview etc, that fear becomes an enemy to your success. If fear stays long it creates a negative mindset. I used to fear elephants, one day I saw people riding on elephants and I said, what? But from the day, I never allowed wrong thoughts to make me fear the unknown.

Many people fear things they never encounter in life. Our minds always cause us to either win positively or negatively.

Learning to deal with fear is all about putting our thoughts in perspective. We tend to focus much on negativity, and end up taking wrong decisions like smoking, alcoholism, prostitution etc. Never allow wrong thoughts be the centre of your decision making. Check what Jacob said in Genesis 32:11,”Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I FEAR him, lest he will come and smite me . . .” Before Jacob met Esau his brother, he feared that maybe Esau was going to kill him, but

Esau didn’t. You fear your husband will kill you, your boss will not approve your request, your wife will not be loyal, your children will not pass. Think past those thoughts.

I say to you, fear not, for God is with you. Turn your eyes unto God. Build a lot of trust upon your abilities. You are the greatest person the world ever met. Maximise yourself daily. You are the one to live maximally in this life. Don’t allow fear to torment you. Arise and walk in victory. For more contact me: [email protected], facebook Limock Shoko, WhatsApp +27638639511.
