THERE were wins for Boss90, Hwange as well as Zimbabwe Saints on the opening day of the 2022 season in the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) Southern Region Division One League yesterday.
Bosso90 picked a 2-0 win over Binga Pirates at Binga Stadium. Nigel Mlauzi and Daniel Msendami scored the goals for the Melusi “Mabaleka” Sibanda coached Bosso90.
Saints were 2-1 victorious over ZPC Hwange in the second match played at White City Stadium. In an early kick off at the same venue, Arenel Movers continued with their impressive form from the Wafa Wafa knockout tournament with a 3-2 triumph over Ajax Hotspurs.
Hwange, under the mentorship of Bongani Mafu sent early warning shots when they demolished Emakhandeni Pirates 3-1 at the Colliery Stadium. Ratanang, a team coached by former Highlanders players, Innocent Mapuranga and Chipo Tsodzo caused the biggest upset when they defeated 2019 runners-up FC Talen Vision 1-0 at the Luveve Stadium B-arena, with the only goal of the match scored by Andrea Siziba.
In an early kick off at the same venue, Mountain Climbers drubbed Quality Foods 3-0.
Two matches were not played because the pitches were waterlogged. Mosi Rovers were meant to face CIWU in Victoria Falls while Casmyn had a date with Indlovu Iyanyathela in Turk Mine but the two matches could not go ahead.
Indonsakusa take on Mainline in the only match scheduled for this afternoon at the Luveve Stadium B-arena.
