The Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Monica Mutsvangwa has highlighted to Cabinet various projects that her Ministry has managed to achieve to improve the status of women in Zimbabwe.
This was said by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Jenfan Muswere in a Post Cabinet Briefing on Tuesday afternoon where he spoke about the various developments.
A Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant Phase 3 was constructed Hauna, Honde Valley, Manicaland Province and is at an advanced stage.
21 Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises from the mining, agro-based, retail and manufacturing sectors across s in the country were funded through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Cooperation.
Dr Muswere said 29 projects in dairy farming, potato farming, bakery, detergent making, events management, beadwork, cleaning services, peanut butter were funded in all the ten provinces of the country through the Women Development Fund.
Additionally, he said, 27 community projects mainly in the agriculture and manufacturing sectors were funded through the Zimbabwe Community Development Fund.
“Construction of Chikomba Factory Shells for the Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises Phase 3 in Chivhu, Mashonaland East Province is progressing well; and the construction of the Mutapa Workspace for Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises in Gweru, Midlands Province is at an advanced stage,” he added.
Meanwhile, Cabinet received and approved the Principles of the Refugees (Amendment) Bill.
“The objectives of the Principles of the Refugees (Amendment) Bill include the alignment of the Act with the 2013 Zimbabwe Constitution as well as the alignment with the changes and developments that have taken place over the years regarding the international refugee protection Instruments over the years, namely: the 1951 Convention and its 1967 Protocol; and the 1969 Organisation of African Union (OAU) Convention,” said Dr Muswere.
