THE Zanu PF Youth League members across the country’s 10 provinces yesterday unanimously resolved to have President Mnangagwa continue in office until 2030 so that he can fulfil his vision of turning the country into an upper-middle-income economy.
The resolutions were presented by the party’s provincial youth league chairpersons at the National Youth League Assembly, held at the party’s headquarters.
The inaugural 2024 National Youth Assembly was the first since the party emerged victorious in the 2023 Harmonised Elections and the formation of the new Government that saw a great number of youthful members of parliament being appointed as ministers and deputies.
The National Youth Assembly was converged under the theme “One Voice, One Vision Creating a Conducive Environment for Youth Development and Empowerment Towards Vision 2030.”
Zanu PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Tino Machakaire, said the trajectory that has been taken by this nation under President Mnangagwa’s stewardship has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that “Vision 2030” is a reality.
“The Youth League held provincial inter-district meetings around the ten provinces. As presented by all the provincial youth chairmen, it is very enchanting to report to you that the whole Youth League rank and file, after your leading our colossal party to victory in 2023 and also consistently steering this nation towards the attainment of Vision 2030 through various initiatives, there is a resounding clarion call from the youth constituency that you continue leading until Vision 2030 is achieved,” said Cde Machakaire.
President Mnangagwa has spearheaded many youths related programmes, such as the launch of youth empowerment programmes during the National Youth Day held in Masvingo, the launch of the Youth Service programme in Zimbabwe held at Nhakiwa Vocational Training Centre in Mashonaland East and the recently held 32nd Session of the Junior Parliament of Zimbabwe.
Cde Machakaire said it bears testimony of President Mnangagwa’s unflinching support towards youth development and empowerment.
During this 2024 calendar year, he said the Youth League has been embarking on various youth empowerment-related programmes.
“As per your word, Your Excellency, the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development in conjunction with Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution has started the process of identifying land for redistribution to the youth. Although the process might be slow for our eagerly awaiting youth, we are happy that our wishes through your instruction will be fulfilled.
“The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development has been a critical partner in youth development as it has been assisting us with agricultural starter packs, Village Business Units and chicks for our youth to embark on income-generating projects. We are all aware that this past farming season has not been so favourable to us as we suffered a devastating drought caused by El Nino. We are grateful to you Your Excellency for putting in place a cocktail of measures to cushion your people from the effects of the drought,” he said.
