Dr Obert Moses Mpofu
MOST people have no clue what change means or what change is. They think that aligning to foreign interests constitutes real change, when in fact that is far from the truth.
Change is knowing when to adapt and how to respond to the external environment and stimuli. For long, there have been elements that have masqueraded and misrepresented themselves as being change agents. The truth is far from that. Change has nothing to do with aligning yourself with alien ideologies and interests of our detractors.
Changes are all about embodying the true values of your people at a given point in time. It takes quite some nerve to be able to inspire and effect meaningful change.
The change process must always be treated with caution. It is a delicate process that requires a perfect balance in terms of understanding the winds of change and being able to ride that wave towards a successful change initiative.
One should not always change things for the sake of changing them. They should carry out this meticulous exercise with patience and the right amount of determination.
Failure to bring about meaningful change often results in undesirable outcomes. One should thus have the wisdom to know when to effect such change or when to maintain the status quo. All change initiatives should inspire a positive result.
It is pointless to endeavour into a change initiative that will not bear any positive outcomes, especially in terms of material benefit for the people.
Zanu-PF is the biggest change agent in Zimbabwe. Throughout the Party’s history, we have always inspired positive change. It is our ability to change and adapt which has spurred this nation forward.
There is no comparison as to the level of change which Zanu-PF is able to influence. In fact, Zanu-PF is well known for positive disruption. We have set the bar too high that no one else compares to the level of change we can influence. Zanu-PF has up till now done what no other entity or party has been able to do.
We have been the driving force behind some of the most important changes that have happened in this country. From delivering the country’s independence to giving back the land to the people and ushering in the New Dispensation through the Second Republic, we have exceeded all expectations.
As a matter of fact, Zanu-PF has even done the impossible through not only holding the country intact under the sheer weight of the illegal sanctions but also through inspiring economic growth under the most difficult of circumstances.
There is no meaningful change that can be brought about by the opposition. In fact, any change of regime in Zimbabwe would disrupt whatever positive processes that are currently going on.
The only way to maintain the positive momentum and positive gains is to keep Zanu- PF in power. Zanu-PF, as a movement represents the people’s aspirations.
It speaks to the people and can never be separated from the people. Zanu-PF is thus the true change agent.
Since time immemorial, Zanu-PF has often changed to align itself with the needs of the people at any given time.
The need to fulfil the people’s aspirations has been a prominent factor in our desire to change. We have endeavoured not to be left behind at every turn, and thus we have fought hard to ensure that we stay in touch with the times.
This positive outlook on change has ensured that we forever remain relevant.
Throughout time, Zanu-PF has been able to morph into an organisation that does not fear change but embraces it for the sake of achieving its desired outcomes. But, we have been careful about this approach. We change when it is necessary.
While we embrace change and have relied upon it to take the nation forward, we will not compromise on our party’s ideals nor the direction from the party’s leadership.
All change that we have and will continue implementing is one that will be in response to the needs of our people and one that does not violate our constitution or affect the welfare our people.
Our leader, His Excellency President Dr ED Mnangagwa has achieved so much in a short span of time because he knows how to leverage change for progress.
His approach has seen Zimbabwe into a new era. From improved relations through the engagement and re-engagement drive to massive infrastructure development, particularly the upgrading of our road network system.
All this has been achieved as a result of the ability to harness change in a positive manner. So, there is no one who can claim that they have brought more positive change in this country than Zanu-PF.
Zanu-PF has harnessed change and turned it into a catalyst for massive development.
