ONE of Zimbabwe’s most iconic football clubs, Zimbabwe Saints could be on the brink of a substantial investment, according to sources within the club.

Sources at Saints claimed the club was in talks with a set of investors who want to hit the ground running.

The sources claimed the deal is imminent and an announcement could be made in the next few days.

There has been plenty of unrest surrounding the club after its return to action after being defunct for over five years.

The club has struggled to attract quality players amid financial challenges.

Saints’ board of trustees’ chairman Vincent Pamire was coy about the claims but confirmed that indeed negotiations with a new financial partner had yielded results.

“For now, I cannot tell you who we have partnered with but I can confirm that we have a financial partner that we will be unveiling very soon.

Watch this space,” Pamire told Sunday News.

The seasoned football administrator has been working round the clock to attract sponsors to Saints and this will come as good news to legions of Chikwata fans who are still hopeful of a return to the glory days of yesteryear.

Pamire, club chief executive, Lloyd Munanga and chairman, Felix Dzumbunu have emerged as key figures in efforts to rebuild Zimbabwe Saints.

Although the club has seen its fair share of trials and tribulations since its return, Pamire is still optimistic that it will survive and prosper.

“When we brought back Zimbabwe Saints, it was always a long-term plan.

As such we have been working round the clock to ensure that we have adequate funding to allow us to achieve our goal of a return to the premier league,” Pamire said.

He added  that although he does not have a role to play in the general administration of the club and is not likely to be involved in the long term, his contacts in football and business could now pose significant investment for the club.
