The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) has issued a public alert warning citizens against fraudsters posing as ZIMSTAT or Ministry of Home Affairs officials.

According to a press statement released by ZIMSTAT, these impostors are visiting private households, requesting National Identity particulars under the guise of preparing for an upcoming Census Count.

However, ZIMSTAT emphasized that it does not conduct unannounced visits without proper authorization.

“To verify the authenticity of ZIMSTAT officials, the public is advised to check for identifications like , national Identity Card, government Identity Card, official Letter from ZIMSTAT and branded ZIMSTAT attire” reads the statement.

Any individuals failing to provide these credentials should be reported to the nearest police station for verification.

For further verification, the public is advised to contact ZIMSTAT through their head office landline, mobile number, email, or website.
