THREE Zimbabwe junior table tennis players got a lifetime opportunity to represent the country and the continent at the International Student Convention in the United States of America.

The ISC is an annual event held in the USA for students who excel at the All Africa Student Convention.

Isheanesu Siringwani (17), Angel Siringwani (16) and Rebecca Minaar (14) will be participating at the event to be held in May next year.

Nicole Hawkens (16) and Minaar will also be representing the continent and the country at the ISC in tennis after coming third and fourth respectively in the tennis singles category of the AASC.

The players were selected to represent the country after exhibiting an impressive performance at the AASC that ran from October 2 to 8 in South Africa.

The Zimbabwe Table Tennis Union national technical director Noah Ferinando said the players were nominated to represent the continent and their country after excelling in their various disciplines.

“The ISC tour is a life changing experience and an awesome opportunity for students,” he said.

Ferinando said the board was impressed by the performance displayed by the side selected at the Zimbabwe Student Convention to represent the country.

He also commended coaches that have been working with athletes assisting them in their growth and development in the sport.

In a tournament that saw students from all over the African continent competing for glory and honours, both Isheanesu and Angel Siringwani, from Mashonaland East, won silver medals in table tennis at the AASC, while Minaar, from Harare, came fourth in the competitions.
