I WASN’T a fan of makeup growing up simply because I didn’t know how to apply it and I didn’t have the products. However, over the past year I discovered I had been missing out on a lot. Makeup is like magic, it transforms your face in so many ways, and you can literally look any part you want to. Makeup trends keep on evolving and getting better each season. Therefore, you got to keep up while you have fun getting dolled up.

On this article I will give a list of all the makeup must haves for 2018.

Blue Eye Makeup
You’ve probably been told that blue eye makeup belongs left in the ’80s, but fast-forward 30 years later, you’re going to see the shade everywhere again. In 2018, instead of sweeping a matte blue eyeshadow across the entire lid to the brow bone, use a blue eyeliner to draw a clean cat eye, or along your lower lash line for a chic, unexpected pop of colour.

Golden Glow
Rihanna may not have invented gold makeup, but she’s definitely made you want to wear shimmer all over your face. Her Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife is the perfect gold pigment that can be swept across the eyelid as a shadow, or on the cheekbone and brow bone as a highlighter. Prepare to see it all over Instagram and on the girl next to you in line for the bathroom at the club for years to come.

Negative Space Eyeliner

Get your black eyeliner ready. While a cat eye is a staple, switch things up this year by giving your sharp flick a new look. Leaving the inside of the wing unfilled for a negative space effect is just as easy to do, but makes your usual liner look so much cooler. Get ready to be bold in 2018. We are naming this year’s hottest eyeliner trend “Cleopatra liner” because it is reminiscent of how Cleopatra wore her eyeliner; or at least how we believe she wore her eyeliner: super graphic, super pointy, super dramatic, and heavier along the bottom lashes. (Cleopatra was the Egyptian queen) Sure, you might have to spend more money on eyeliner than usual, but the look is going to be so, so worth it.

Metallic Lipstick
Meet the practical alternative to last year’s glitter lips: metallic lipstick. You still get the shimmer, without leaving loose sparkles on everything from your desk, sweater, to your chin and all the people you come in contact with.

Inner Corners
Dabbing a colour on the inner corners of your eyes is to 2018 as what reverse eyeliner was to 2017. Lining the inner corners of your eyes with white eyeliner is a trick that makeup artists have relied on for years to instantly make eyes appear larger and more awake, a shimmery colour on the inner corners takes this technique one step further.

Bright Lipstick
The bolder, the better will be your new motto when it comes to choosing lipstick in 2018. Although a bright lip has always been the easiest way to add colour to your look, this year you’ll see more and more ‘80s-inspired brights in the spotlight such as fuchsia lipstick. Colour will be big, expect to see colours from orange to ocean blues.

Fenty beauty by Rihanna
This isn’t so much a trend as it is a revolution. Rihanna pretty much changed the makeup game in 2017 with the launch of her cosmetic line, Fenty Beauty. Fans went wild over the inclusive line, which features 40 shades of foundation and 30 shades of concealer. Rihanna’s makeup could be seen all over Spring 2018 fashion shows, so it’s safe to say that it’s a must-have for your makeup arsenal.

Glossy skin
For a shiny new you, you’ll want to check out the glossy skin trend that took over the runways of 2018 fashion shows. Makeup artists predict that glossy skin and eyes is the next generation of highlight. Just to be sort of shiny and add that extra texture — it’s almost like a piece of clothing, putting on something — putting this shine on, and it adds another element to the look.

Weightless foundation
Forget about oily foundation that leaves your skin feeling greasy and dirty. Makeup pros report that weightless foundations has been growing in popularity and is going to be everywhere in 2018, leaving your face feeling fresher and lighter than it has in years. If you have generally avoided foundation because you don’t like that caked-on feeling, then 2018 is your year. These weightless foundations are not just light, but are also breathable for a natural look and feel.

Makeup is important to women just as weaves and clothes are. Do invest in makeup products, learn how to apply it and look gorgeous. You will never want to leave the house without it.-Additional information from online sources.
