WITH years of hard work and dedication to her profession, it is unthinkable that Zimbabwe’s own queen of music Ammara Brown has no album of her own.

She has toiled for too long in the industry and has managed to gain both experience, exposure and celebrity status, something that has made her a “happy soul” who by local and regional standards is no longer a pushover.

A tireless performer and recording artiste, Ammara will next month be launching her much anticipated debut album after several hit tracks and celebrity duets.

Daughter to one of this country’s most celebrated musicians, Andy Brown, she was brought into the music world at an early age, learning how to play the mbira and piano at nine, and then joining her father’s band while singing with the Martin Luther King Choir at 13.

One would say the Mukoko hit-maker was helped into stardom by being the daughter of a renowned artiste, but that is not the case, her melodious voice is undeniably behind the success of her career.

The sensational dance queen said the time had arrived for her to launch her debut album.

“On 10 November, I will finally have the pleasure of launching my debut album. It’s been an incredible journey leading up to this point. Before the launch, I would like to thank people responsible for this dream that has become reality. These include Vusa Blaqs who believed in my vision, and John Cole who has worked hard to develop my sound,” she said.

Brown said the album consists of 14 tracks including an intro and outro which mainly tackled real life experiences and analysis of human life.

“It’s been a journey of ups and downs. The album will include songs on the beauty and dark side of love, celebrations, grieving, self-actualisation and my beloved Ammartians. I feel like it’s a true reflection of the multifaceted yet African woman I am. I’m incredibly excited to become an even greater part of the sonic history of Africa,” she said.

Brown, who usually calls her fans the Ammartians, said Ammartia referred to an important place which she takes people to, when listening to her music.

“Ammartia is the place my music takes you to, somewhere in your heart and soul, it’s the rhythm and emotion, and it’s wherever your imagination sends you when the words, music and melody hit you. I represent every Zimbabwean princess and queen around the world. And this album is our moment, thank you so much for your love and all this incredible support,” she said.

Ammara’s album features great artistes in the music industry which includes legendary Hugh Masekela and Tytan.

The album promises to be a thriller as it includes singles which have already topped charts like Mukoko (feat Tytan), Wachu Want featuring her dear sister Chengeto, and Sey No with talented superstar, Nutty O.

Another track from the album, Akiliz, was recently released and is already on the number one spot on Zi World Chart Show.

The music maestro who recently won the Best Actress Award held at Zimbabwe International Film Festival (ZIFF) said she was taken aback by the Akiliz track which received positive responses within weeks of its release.

“I am humbled by fans’ support of Akiliz. People have been asking what Akiliz means; well, Akiliz is your weakness, your Achilles heel. The person who takes your kindness for weakness,” she said.

The launch will take place at The Venue in Avondale, Harare, and tickets are already being sold there, and also at Tech Tools, and The Flame at Borrowdale.

The special guests for the much hyped event are yet to be announced, but Ammara assured fans that a star-studded list would be announced on social media as the main event approaches.
