SUNGLASSES are one of the coolest accessories for summer. They are meant to protect the eyes from the sun and wind at times. Sunglasses are often referred to as shades, they shield the eyes from too much sun. Sunglass trends keep on evolving, from the black or brown round traditional look to gold or grey oval-shaped sunglasses. Not only have the colours improved but even the by shapes, in order to cater for different face shapes.
Shades are worn for various reason, one of them is looking cool. Sunglasses do make a “misshapen” face look better. The darker lenses cover up any asymmetrical oddities around the eyes. Anybody can look good in shades, but the key is picking out a frame that suits the shape of your face. Some sunglasses may be trendy but they may not suit you and it ends up looking weird. Sunglasses are a trendy disguise that say ‘‘don’t talk to me right now’’ and ‘‘I am really shady and cool’’.
Trendsetters go to the extent of getting the latest Chanel sunglasses costing $450. Sure, they are good quality and help block the sun, but blocking the sun is not the only reason why people get sunglasses. Here are some of the reasons;
You don’t want to talk to anyone — once the sunglasses are on, you are immediately in your own world and since you cannot make eye contact you can walk past people without saying hi!
People don’t recognise you — yes, this may not be true but we at least feel super mysterious with shades on. If you have sunglasses on you can avoid the awkwardness of having to talk to people you don’t like.
You look trendy and cool — sunglasses can say a lot about a person. There are all different kinds. Hipster shades, designers shades, colourful shades, cheap shades and so on. Some people buy sunglasses to look trendy and cool. Almost like wearing prescription glasses without a prescription. Shades give you an attitude, the more expensive they are the more trendy you look.
You don’t feel like makeup — sunglasses can do wonders for women. If you do not have time to put on makeup or are just sick or tired; sunglasses can make you look stylish and cool without having to do anything.
You can watch people — whether you admit or not, we all watch people. Especially in town, shops, restaurants and parties. We usually don’t want someone to know we are actually looking at them. Sunglasses are the best way to keep your cover on.
You can hide your shame — sunglasses hide your eyes, face and shame. Even during your ‘‘walk of shame’’ sunglasses are necessary. People tend to wear glasses when they are drunk. For those who wear them at night, I’m sure it’s to disguise themselves.
Whichever reasons you may have for wearing shades, have fun while doing it. Keep up with sunglass trends. The colours to look out for are the naturals; dusty grey, taupe and pale blue. Natural colours evoke simplicity and comfort. If you want to go for a more feminine look go for dusty shades of pink, baby blue and lavender.
